Winter Driving

If the past three winters have been anything to go by, then we can soon expect some challenging driving conditions as another winter sets in. Of course, it’s impossible to predict exactly what weather we will have to deal with, and conditions can vary so much from one place to another. But it does make sense to be as prepared as possible for the threat of winter weather and the disruption it can bring.

With this in mind, GEM’s Charity voted earlier in the year to provide some funding for a short video on winter driving. The video, which lasts just under four minutes, considers the reasons why we can lose control and skid on snowy surfaces, as well as offering sensible, practical measures to help motorists make sure they stay as safe as possible if they have to be out in winter conditions.

“Keeping windscreens clear and ice free, removing snow from headlights and popping a shovel, blanket and flask into the car boot are all examples of practical preparation covered in the video,” said James Luckhurst, who wrote the script and presents the video. “There is plenty of ‘take-away’ information as well as some great winter scenery to enjoy.”
