Blue light video project gathers momentum

Blue light video project gathers momentumYou’ll know, from reading recent editions of Good Motoring magazine, that GEM Motoring Assist has been instrumental in spearheading a new information video that will give sensible advice to members of the public on what to do and what not to do when they’re on the road and an emergency vehicle is coming past on a ‘blue light’ run.

We launched the consultation for the video scripting February, and have been delighted by the overwhelmingly positive response from emergency service representatives. They have helped us tweak the script, add a couple of things we were not aware of, and change some of the words for clarity. All in all, it has been a terrific start to the project.

To give you some idea of where we are in terms of support, we now have the following organisations on board:

The Association of Chief Police Officers
Devon & Cornwall Police
Dyfed Powys Police
Thames Valley Police
Kent Police
Sussex Police
Essex Police
Merseyside Police
Scottish Police College
The Chief Fire Officers Association
Avon Fire
Devon & Somerset Fire
Warwickshire Fire
Oxfordshire Fire
Humberside Fire
Buckinghamshire Fire
South Central Ambulance
South West Ambulance
South East Coast Ambulance

Additionally, we are thrilled to have support from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and Roadsafe, three highly influential organisations in the field of road safety.

Our next step is to seek an engagement with local authority road safety units, in the hope that they will give their support to the project and encourage as many people as possible to view the video when it is launched in mid May.
