Did you know that a car, crafted from Play-Doh, weighs approximately the same as the real thing? No? Neither did I but that is what Chevrolet discovered, when a 1.5-tonne replica of its latest Orlando family car was built from the modelling compound and positioned in a busy London street.

Eight model makers were employed to craft the life-sized seven-seater, after the car firm surveyed 1,000 people, to discover their favourite childhood toy. Lego was pipped from the top spot by only 2% but what would Chevrolet have done if the other contenders had won? Kinder Egg, Action Man, Barbie, Marbles, Scalextric and Subbuteo were among the finalists.

What would your favourite childhood blast-from-the-past be? I loved my Corgi car collection and still have an old Volvo 245 estate car model on my desk, complete with its missing wheel.
