GEM adds its support for nationwide election road safety pledge
Road safety and breakdown organisation GEM Motoring Assist is calling on the new Conservative government to revitalise a commitment to road safety that disappeared during the course of the previous parliament.
GEM chief executive David Williams MBE said: “Strong political leadership is essential to provide positive direction for the remainder of this decade and beyond. We know there is enormous commitment and willingness from road safety professionals to continue the work to save lives.
“But we want to hear that there is determination, commitment and leadership from Government to support the efforts of the road safety community to reduce death and injuries on the UK’s roads. We remind the Government that years of cuts have severely reduced the size of this community, and we urge ministers to put in place the required measures and resources to ensure the UK’s position as a global leader in road safety is reinforced rather than further compromised.”
